 Modern buildings in Dubai

A stunning jewel of the Arabian peninsula, Dubai is one of the most modern and awe-inspiring cities in the world. Visitors come from around the world to experience its magnificent attractions, luxury hotels, and learn more about the city’s cultural heritage. Though it’s known for its high-end accommodation and amenities, Dubai holidays don’t have to break the budget. There are plenty of activities and attractions in town that won’t cost a fortune.

Dubai Fountains

Just opposite the Dubai Mall sits the 30-acre Burj Khalifa Lake. In the evenings, the lake puts on a fountain show designed by the same creative minds behind the fountains of the Bellagio in Las Vegas. Choreographed to music and complemented by lighting, the fountains shoot up to 500 feet in the air to create a spectacular show that’s enjoyable for the entire family and completely free of charge. For many, it’s a perfect way to cap off a day spent shopping at the adjacent Dubai Mall.

Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve

No Dubai Holiday is complete without exploring the desert from which the city sprung. Taking up nearly 5% of the entire Emirate, the Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve has preserved the region’s desert heritage for generations to come. There are a number of safaris and tours available which take visitors into the reserve to view its scenery, flora and fauna. A popular option is an SUV or Land Cruiser tour through the sand dunes. Outdoor catered dinners and camel rides are also available.

Burj Khalifa

In stark contrast to the rural feel of the open desert, the Burj Khalifa is a testament to Dubai’s modernity. Currently the tallest building in the world, visitors can get a bird’s eye view of the city by heading to its observation deck located on the 124th floor. Depending on the weather, views can stretch for miles, spanning both the city and surrounding desert.

Wild Wadi Water Park

No matter what time of the year it is, going to Dubai almost guarantees to feature incredibly warm temperatures. Adults and children alike can cool off by visiting the Wild Wadi Water Park. Featuring a staggering 28 separate rides, the park’s theme was inspired by an Arabian fairy tale. Wild Wadi is one of the most elaborate and modern water parks in the world, and includes state-of-the-art changing facilities, as well as a cafe.

The Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding

Beneath Dubai’s cosmopolitan flair is a distinct and flourishing culture. The SMCCU offers educational tours aimed at both children and adults through Dubai’s Grand Mosque, with well-informed guides happy to answer questions. The tours also include information on the history and heritage of Dubai, along with a chance to sample local cuisine.

Dubai – Desert Safari

One of the most exciting attractions of Dubai is the so-called “desert safari Dubai” There are two options, a long one including to sleep in the desert and a short one which is basically an afternoon experience. It starts with a long drive from the high rise metropolis of Dubai down to the desert and an exhilarating dune bashing followed by  a traditional dinner, sitting on the carpets and watching a falcon show, a whirling dervish and a sensual almost naked belly dancer. The big bonus – you can marvel at millions of stars above you.

Cruise Dubai Marina with a dhow

Dubai Marina is one of the world’s largest concentration of skyscrapers, grouped around a lagoon. It is quite a view ! You can enjoy an evening doing a dhow cruise Dubai including dinner, mixing the tradition feeling with the futuristic surroundings.
