Fly Pegasus.jpg

A large country like Turkey could not afford not to have its own low-cost airline. Chengdu – Between Pandas and the Sichuan Opera

Chengdu: Panda bear

It is no longer a secret for anyone – China is becoming a greater economic, political and military power by the day. Many of you may have seen (even only on TV) or heard about the incredible cities that are being built in Shanghai, Guangzhou or Beijing, but there is also the image that everything west of the coast is in decay, extreme poverty, third world country. A few years ago, on the way to Tibet, I visited the capital of the southwestern province – Chengdu, a “town” of several million inhabitants, the capital of the Sichuan province. I was expecting hovels and poor people, but, in exchange, we were surprised in this part of China, too… Unfortunately, in the spring of 2008, the Sichuan province was hit by a strong earthquake. Although more than 4,000 people died in Chengdu, and situated only 50 kilometers away from the epicenter, Chengdu did not suffer major damage.

Top 5 free – Amsterdam

Amsterdam: Rijksmuseum

Do you know which the city where I struggled to find interesting and cool places and things for free is? London? No way … Paris? Not even close… I think that even in super-expensive cities such as Monte Carlo you can find 5 things to do for free … Well, this in Amsterdam, the Netherlands’ no. 1 tourist attraction… Why is that? And then I remembered … Well, all the Dutch are known to be thrifty. Photo-story: Kiev, Ukraine

15 June 2012 Photo-Story, Ukraine 1 comment

 19. Independence Square Kiev.JPG

Most of you love pictures. I like them too, I have almost 1 terrabyte of pics and 25,000 printed pictures from the pre-digital cameras era. Still need to scan them :) As most of them are lovely. Back them, I was thinking a few moments to take a picture. Now, you take hundreds per minute and you choose afterwards. But, it is pretty hard to sort them out, as well. Nevermind ! As of today, I will have a series of photo-stories from around the world. I hope you will like it :) And as the Euro 2012 is in full blow, I thought to show you some sights of Kiev, the surprisingly wonderful capital of Ukraine and the host for the Great Final of Euro 2012. A city of old, majestic buildings, golden churches, beautiful scantily-clad girls and cheap vodka :)

Great Interview: Larissa, the Russian Princess: “I slept with the Gypsies, don’t tell Mom”

Farming just outside of Uppsala, Sweden.jpg

A blonde gypsy… wow, what a contrast between 2 words… the gypsies are known as being quite dark-haired and darker skin… The opposites attract, so I ended up reading her site and discovering a traveler who went as Star trek says “to boldly go where no one has gone before”… So, I could not miss to ask her a few questions.
