Photo Story: Lisbon, Portugal
I’ve been twice to Lisbon, the capital city of Portugal. Only twice, I would say, stressing on “only”… because it is such a beautiful city with a bohemian atmosphere with a pretty relaxed atmosphere (too relaxed would say IMF and World Bank) and a great party vibe. But, let’s have a photo-walk through this special city.
If you go to center, you will live the past… like the trams of the past
Praca do Comercio – the main square by the river
Last time I visited Lisbon, they celebrated 100 years of Republic… so, I could get a short balloon ride for free, smack in Praca do Comercio
And the square from the height
A morning fog was lifting up… so, I could see a glimpse of Jesus of Lisbon
Azulejos, the fabled tiles of Portugal !
The uphill streets of Lisbon
A great panorama from Alfama quarter
Bairro Alto (The Upper Quarter)
Sao Jorge castle – the fortress on the top of a hill
The famous century-old elevator of Bairro Alto
So, I took the elevator for another great panorama… now, from the other hill
And observe the grid layout of Baixa (The Lower Quarter)
A little bit further, in Belem suburb, you can discover the fantastic Manuelin architecture and its masterpiece – Monastery of Jeronimos
with an exquisite style
Monument of Discoverers
See the Jeronimos Monastery from the monument
Tower of Belem
By the end of the day, we should line up for the best Portuguese cookies – Pasteis de Belem
Colourful Lisbon! I wish I had the time to visit it. Lucky you with the balloon ride!
I was lucky… It was the weekend before the 100th celebration of Republic
Nice city…but too many ugly men are comming to you: “hash, marie, hash, marie”.
Well, I did not see them… but there is no doubt this type of folk is a nuisance
