Things to do in Amsterdam: sights, accommodation, restaurants and many other tips

4. Bicicletele - principalul mijloc de transport din Amsterdam.jpg

Amsterdam holds a very special place in my heart. It is the first foreign city I ever stepped into. No, I wasn’t there for a visit. I was merely changing a train and carrying 44 kg of luggage and heading towards Maastricht , the city of my student years. So, technically speaking, Amsterdam is the first foreign city I set foot in (Schiphol doesn’t count)…Obviously, later I returned several times and was able to enjoy this matchless city, a city of art and also of sex, a perfect example of the 17th century architecture but also the place where marijuana is legal, a city with both liberal and libertine views…A city where Walloon ladies enjoy special exhibitions at Rijksmuseum and where rednecks across the pond (from England) come for15 minutes of sex on 50 € with the girls displayed at the windows …

Rome: Roman Quorum

Rome was one of those cities that I have always dreamed before it was possible for me to travel outside my country.  I was arriving for the first time in the Eternal City in August 1994. I had an Italian Transit Visa for two days, ripped away with hard work from the most chaotic consulate I have ever seen and I spent here six unforgettable days (it’s true, I did run up to Naples one day and another one to meet Michelangelo in Florence)… since then I have returned many times also because I have relatives in Rome! read more…

Things to do in Milan: visit Piazza Duomo

Milan is part of another Italy …it isn’t the crazy, romantic, careless Italy, the Italy of “La Dolce Vita”. Milan is the working Italy, is the Germanized Italy, the Italy with the highest living standard, but maybe also the least charismatic & sexy part of Italy…and still, if you get passed over the perceptions you will discover a vibrant city, full of life and, even if it cannot compete with Rome’s or Florence’s monuments, you will discover quite a lot of corners that will stay in your souls. It is also the place that gives the head start in international fashion, but one of the capitals of universal football. read more…

Things to do in Brussels: sights, accommodation, restaurants and many other tips

The City Hall tower from Brussels

Brussels was the first Western capital I have ever set foot in. It was a cold and foggy December day yet the buildings in the Central Square were mysteriously looming through the thick fog. It was really cold and very humid so, I quickly decided to come back here again in order to really enjoy the capital of Belgium. And I went back tens of times…The head quarters of P&G was located in Brussels, a company I have worked for many years. And then I have come to know Brussels in detail, with its bad and goods. With charming buildings, with reasonable priced seafood, with Leonidas chocolate, with the luxurious districts or the sinister area around the train station, the filth in the European area, with the trademark Belgian strikes… And despite all that, as usual, the beauty and the pleasant memories won, that is why I want to wrote today some tips about Brussels! read more…

Things to do in Paris: climb Eiffel Tower

Paris has a special place somewhere in my heart. It was one of my first trips that I did when I was a student in Holland and a trip like this can only remain somewhere in a corner of my most loved memories…I discovered Paris on Christmas, I have been to Paris during summer and spring time, but also in the fall… I have strolled at night on the Champs Élysées and I have climbed on the Eiffel tower at day time and at night time…I have enjoyed the poetry of the mornings in front of the Notre Dame, but also the ugly autumn rains on the Seine…So Paris couldn’t have missed from this series of information and tips in order to make your trip to the capital of France cheaper and more pleasant :) read more…
