A couple of weeks ago, I received an invitation from “On Location Tours” agency in New York to join them for a “TV & Movie Tour”. As my friend, Monica lives in New York, I asked her to go on my behalf… especially since she is a “Sex and the City” fan and one of the specialty tours on the menu is… you guessed ! The Sex and the City Tour !
Portugal boasts a lengthy list of idyllic holiday destinations that each offer enough to draw tens of thousands of visitors each and every year. With clear blue skies and hugely impressive coastlines, the country is a stalwart of the European tourism scene and when it comes to an all inclusive holiday Portugal is as well served as anywhere on the continent.
Our next stop after Kashan was the little village of Abyaneh. Abyaneh is considered to be a special village in Iran. It is one of the last settlements where the Middle Age Persian is still spoken, the traditional clothes are extremely colored in a country in which the black of the chador is considered the “right color”, furthermore, because of the location at the foot of an almost 4000 meters mountain, it is very chilly in the summer… So many Iranian tourists choose to run away from heat at Abyaneh. Do not imagine that you will find mega-hotels, ski lifts or any other wonders of the mass tourism. There are hotels, but in the new city, while the classic village continues to be inhabited by the locals in houses made of red mud bricks with two floors – in the winter they live on the ground floor, while in the summer at the upper floor, with roads full of meanders and with an air from another century. … read more
We wake up early in the morning. We want to arrive as quickly as possible to Kashan. So, we are the first wanderers at breakfast, we take our backpacks, we pay for our hotel and off we go towards the Teheran underground!
Ok, I am recovered from all these Teheran diamonds! I take another look at Lonely Planet and I decide. Let’s go to the Azadi tower! Nothing simpler. I stop a taxi, I tell him where we want to go, we haggle over the price a little and off we go towards the Azadi tower. … read more
