I should confess from the very beginning that I love history. I started to love history since I was a kid, when I spent so many hours and hours reading about heroes and warriors, defectors and fighters, about magnificent cities and brilliant kingdoms. But I always tried to imagine how they looked like (I guess that’s why I watch historical movies as well)… Sometimes, I managed, sometimes I could not… But since I started to travel, I could see, feel and taste the atmosphere of many of these places which shine in the history books.

The Transcontinental City of Istanbul has its own aura and charm that perfectly reflects the past glory of the city. Spanning land areas of both continents of Europe and Asia, Istanbul has its commercial and historic centre on the European side while most of the population lives on the Asian side. Once you step on the soil of this place that had been the epicenter of the Roman, Byzantine, Latin and Ottoman Empire you could see the time standing still hanging in the atmosphere. Breathing the air of the place that was once the bone of contention between powers that dominated the world.
