Ultimate guide to booking a holiday for cheaper
Gaurav Pareek Fantastic destinations like Hawaii, Bali and Madrid are always a lure to all those travel fanatics who like to pack their bags and head towards their doors the first chance they get. But the ever rising prices of air tickets, hotels and what not, leads to stress and may cast a shadow over the whole trip of the travel enthusiast. This post is exactly what a travel-buff should be looking for, if you wish not to be left with a big hole in the pockets.
Air Tickets – The first thing to be get done with, Air Tickets, its a pretty basic rule to a traveler. Be it a totally different country you are travelling to, or be it inland flights; You want to get the air tickets at least three and a half month before the departure, as the closer you are to the date of departure, the higher will be the prices. But did you know that picking the evening/ night flights as your departure time will offer you a comparatively cheaper tickets than picking the noon/ afternoon time. The tickets also tend to be cheaper during the mid night hours, but the same cannot be trusted as it depends on the Airlines you prefer. Another tip will be, to get yourself an indirect flight booked, as it is considered a bit cheaper than the traditional long-hour flight. Occasional glance over travel news may help you save a fortune too.
Hotel – Similarly like Air Tickets, the early-booking rule applies to booking a hotel too, but while booking a hotel the recommended time is around one and a half month prior to the journey. In case of booking a hotel earlier, the trick is not only to get cheaper rates, but also the preferred rooms one can book due to the large number of availability. Looking up for hotels online, on a hotel booking/ travel website like www.thomascook.com is preferably a better idea while booking, as some hotels registered on such websites offer early booking deals, which will surely help you save a lot on hotel-stay cost. Again, having an eye on the travel news will help you, as new emerging hotels usually offer a 50% discount as they are probably not so well-known and need some exposure.
Family Package – Not all travelers are lone travelers. Signing up for websites like thomascook.com and thomson.co.uk , can fetch you some really good family offers, discounts and hotel booking benefits. These websites can actually become your companion for the whole trip; Flights and cars, to a special ‘Discover Cities’ functionality of thomson.co.uk can actually be helpful when you are looking for an all in one website to plan the whole trip.
Other Costs – Eating in a classy restaurant, wife’s shopping, buying an eye catching ancient relic from Cairo, can affect your overall budget plan for the holiday. One should consider noting down the current exchange rates and set a budget of money that is to be spent on food and shopping, as this is the only way one can stop the overflow of money. Blindly swiping the cards is never a wise move.
Website Recommendations – As mentioned earlier, booking early saves you heaps of cash. Consider doing the same from thomascook.com or thomson.co.uk.com. As signing up for newsletters from these websites can give you a hint about best deals, discount, loyal customers may also fetch special thomascook voucher codes. I can only add that while traveling to a country with a different currency, you should always pay attention not only on the exchange rate, but also on the commission (sometimes you can lose up to 20% of the amount). As a rule, about the commission you can read very small print
You can only save money if you actively set out to seek these deals … great tips!
