Things to do in Nepal: visit the sadhu at Pashupatinath Hindu temple

If you wanted to say what is there to be seen in Kathmandu, only a full book would be enough. This is why I’d say let’s take a few steps outside the city as well and visit the outside-the-capital Nepal. And there are a lot of fabulous places – either if we talk about the Monkey Temple from above Kathmandu or the fascinating Buddhist temples of Boudhanath or the Hindu ones from Pashupatinath… read more…

Sights of Nepal: a sadhu in Kathmandu

Everest, Sherpa people, the beautiful crazy people that wrestle the eight-thousand-ers, victories and tragedies, mountains dressed in eternal snow and beyond, the mysterious Tibet…What can be more to visit in Nepal ? What the hell can one do there if he is not a climber to go and conquer the eight-thousand-ers? I also thought that Nepal meant only Himalaya before I started reading more about this fascinating nation. And only then have I found out that it is an extremely diverse and interesting country that is really worth visiting also by those who have no abilities to climb the eight-thousand-ers. Therefore I jumped on one plane’s wing and off I went to the mysterious kingdom, to Kathmandu… read more…

28 August 2012 live report, Ukraine 3 comments

Ukrainean girl

Usually, I am not doing live blogging. I tried to do it while visiting Georgia in 2010, but I realized I lose too much time in front of the computer rather than discovering the place I am visiting. Right now, I am in Lvov (Lviv, Lwow, Lemberg), Ukraine, so, let me show you this wonderful city !

Classic Japan between Nara and Kyoto. Episode 2 – Kyoto

24 August 2012 Japan, travel stories 2 comments

Traditional wedding in Kyoto

A couple of days later, again on a train ride, this time, destination Kyoto. Expectations are set higher, as Kyoto is described as the quintessence of classic Japan. Furthermore, if Nara has only 8 sites on the UNESCO list of World Heritage, Kyoto owns more than double – inside the city there are no less than 17 UNESCO sites (13 Buddhist temples, 3 Shinto sanctuaries and one castle). Just like in Nara, when arriving in the train station the area has nothing to do with classicism… the train station in Kyoto is a glass and steel monster, looking like a futuristic Cathedral, with an observation point at the 15th floor…But let’s not anticipate. read more…
