The Transcontinental City of Istanbul has its own aura and charm that perfectly reflects the past glory of the city. Spanning land areas of both continents of Europe and Asia, Istanbul has its commercial and historic centre on the European side while most of the population lives on the Asian side. Once you step on the soil of this place that had been the epicenter of the Roman, Byzantine, Latin and Ottoman Empire you could see the time standing still hanging in the atmosphere. Breathing the air of the place that was once the bone of contention between powers that dominated the world.

The city is world’s fifth-most-popular tourist destination and has been named as the European capital of culture. Istanbul has become a mosaic of cultures and traditions owing to the varied people which inhibited this land.

Home to some of the most beautiful architectural marvels, visiting Suleymaniye Mosque in this city will be an immensely enlightening experience for you. The beautiful interior of this place of worship would leave you amazed.

While you are here travelling across the busy streets and bustling in the weekend air you would not want to miss the Rahmi M Koç Museum, which is dedicated to the history of travel, transport, industry and communication. This would leave you wondering about how we arrived where we are at present.

When you are around in Istanbul then one thing that would keep springing up every now and then in front of your eyes is the immensely rich history that this city witnessed. And one of the most important evidence that emanates the idea of history in itself is Hagia Sophia Museum / Church. The flat dome would make your imagination go wild and would puzzle you on the possibility of this architectural marvel executed as early as 6 century AD.

One thing that you would come across in Istanbul is the great amount of local art and craft that has developed in this city. And one of the places that will reflect the beauty of local art and crafts that constitute the livelihood of a wide range of people is Heritage Nomadic Art Gallery. Don’t forget to take home one of these intricate, beautiful and unique village rugs, carpets and shawls.

And one of the most life changing experience that you can take in this city on your weekend here is a river cruise across the river. And there are many tours that are organized for this purpose. Thus Bosphorus Strait can never be missed in a visit to Istanbul. The calm waters and the beautiful climate of the place that may give rise to a misty almost ethereal scene across the waters would leave your soul calm and quite. Where you can find the essence of your own self.  A perfect summit of the weekend visit to this place would be this cruise.

Owing to the immensely rich heritage of history and culture that breathes across this city there would be many places that would always left to be explored and devoured. And one visit to this place will leave you craving for more and more of the intricately carved domes, arches and soothing rivers and peace that hangs in the air of the place. Visit Istanbul and Find yourself!

Istanbul looks so amazing ! I can’t wait to see and experience turkey for myself – the food and the clothes look to die for in all the photos online, the waterfront photo you have is beautiful ! i didn’t realise it was the fifth most popular tourist destination – might be a great place to meet other travellers travelling through europe as well :)
